Getting started

Quick start

Your organization controls how OpsOnTab is installed, configured, and made available. The options you see may differ based on your role.

Open OpsOnTab in Microsoft Teams

Select OpsOnTab from the Teams app bar or your organization’s configured tab. If it is not visible, check the Teams Apps area or contact your administrator.

Sign in with your work account

Use the Microsoft organizational account authorized by your employer. Personal Microsoft accounts may not have access to your organization’s workspace.

Review My Work

Start with the items assigned to you, including active tickets, tasks, process steps, reviews, and approvals available to your role.

Open an item and take action

Review its status, owner, priority, due date, related records, comments, and attachments. Use only the actions available for your role and the item’s current state.

Orientation

Understand your workspace

OpsOnTab connects operational records so teams can move from an incoming request to execution, approval, and reporting without losing context.

My Work

A focused view of records that need your attention. Use filters and status information to prioritize the next action.

Company views

Broader operational views may be available when your role permits them. Access remains subject to organizational permissions.

Linked records

A ticket can lead to tasks or a process, while procedures and approvals provide guidance and governance around the work.

History and context

Comments, assignments, status changes, and related records help authorized users understand what happened and what comes next.

Product guide

Core modules

Feature availability and field names can vary by organization and release.

Tickets

Capture requests, issues, and service needs. Track ownership, priority, status, discussion, and related work through resolution.

Tasks

Turn work into clear assignments with owners, due dates, status, and supporting context.

Processes

Run repeatable work through defined phases or steps so execution is consistent and visible.

SOPs

Publish and maintain reusable operating procedures for the audiences who need them.

Approvals

Route decisions to authorized approvers and keep approval activity connected to the underlying work.

Reports

Review operational volume, status, ownership, and performance using the reports your role can access.

Recommended practice

A reliable daily workflow

Prioritize

Review My Work and focus first on overdue, high-priority, blocked, or approval-pending items.

Confirm context

Before changing a record, review its description, related items, latest comments, owner, and any attached guidance.

Record meaningful progress

Keep status, ownership, dates, and comments current so other authorized users can understand the work without relying on a separate chat.

Complete or escalate

Complete the action when its requirements are met. If it is blocked, document the issue and notify the appropriate owner or administrator.

Permissions

Access and roles

Your Microsoft identity, OpsOnTab role, record assignment, and organization’s configuration determine what you can view or change.

If an action or record is unavailable

First confirm that you are signed into the correct Microsoft tenant and account. Then ask your OpsOnTab administrator to verify your role, assignment, and access configuration. Support cannot grant organizational access without authorization.

Protect organizational information

Do not share passwords, access tokens, confidential attachments, or sensitive personal information in a support request. Redact screenshots whenever possible.

Troubleshooting

Try these steps before opening a support request. They resolve many sign-in, loading, and permission issues.

OpsOnTab does not appear in Microsoft Teams

Search for OpsOnTab in the Teams Apps area and confirm you are using the correct work account. Your Microsoft 365 administrator may need to allow, install, or pin the app for your organization.

The page is blank or does not finish loading
  • Refresh the tab and try again.
  • Confirm Teams and your internet connection are working.
  • Sign out of Teams, close it fully, and sign back in.
  • Try Teams on the web to determine whether the issue is limited to the desktop client.
  • Record the time and any displayed error before contacting support.
I receive a sign-in or consent error

Verify that Teams is signed into the Microsoft 365 tenant where OpsOnTab was installed. Some consent or application-access errors require action by your Microsoft 365 administrator.

I cannot view or update a record

The record may be outside your role, audience, assignment, or organization scope. Ask your OpsOnTab administrator to confirm your access. Include the record type and identifier, but do not email sensitive record contents.

A recent change is not visible

Refresh the current view and confirm that filters are not hiding the record. If the change still does not appear, note the record identifier, expected result, actual result, and approximate time of the update.
